Sculpted by Randy Bowen and released in 2006 with an edition size of 2400 samples, the Hawkeye Statues represents one of the most eye-catching and original statues of the entire catalogue of the American company. The restless Clint Barton is depicted in a very dynamic pose, perched on a sort of cliff in the act to launch one of his deadly arrows, wrapped in his classic and flamboyant costume, here proposed in metallic shades. The body is muscular and slender: the right leg is fully stretched backwards while the left, flexed and resting on a rocky spike, provides the hero with the necessary stability and allows him to inflate the huge chest and to stretch the mighty arms, in what we might call the epitome of a true archer! The muscles tension is marked by pronounced and masterly realized color gradients on arms, legs and abdomen. The figurative impact is ensured by a brilliant polychromy and the contrast between the background metallic blue, the bright purple on boots and the many bands characterizing the costume of the character, and the brown of the bow and arrows. The metallic tone is also evident on the squared bands surrounding the biceps, the large bracelets at the wrists and the mask that covers the head, neck and nape of the Avenger. Note the sculptural elegance of the hands of the hero handling the bow and of the lower part of the costume, shaken by the wind, which moves with great naturalness and realism and follows the arched and tense position of the body. The face is very well done: thin, elongated, very similar in the somatic traits to the tables of Comics of 70s, with the eyes focused on target and the typical semi-rigid mask with side stretched and curved wings. The central figure is positioned on a large and heavy base, exhibiting a dark and uniform color, enriched by an impressive number of decorative elements of great appeal, aiming at reminding the role of the hero as an Avenger: the scratched shield of Captain America, the legendary Thor's hammer, the head and a hand of the arch-enemy Ultron, the tiny helmet of Ant-Man, the Black Knight 's sword, the ramshackle mask of Iron Man and a pair of glasses, presumably belonging to Bruce Banner, the alter-ego of Hulk. The availability of the Hawkeye Statues on the international ebay network is relatively good, due to the wide edition size, while the quotations (in general) reach a medium-high level, thus reflecting the excellent aesthetics and quality of the statue and the general appreciation of collectors. In my opinion, a piece from Bowen Design of great charm and excellent workmanship, which should not miss in all collections dedicated to the Marvel Universe.
